Craving for ... Authentic Chinese Food!

Have been a food maniac since I know how to appreciate food. I told him, we live to eat!! And of course, that is one of the principle that I uphold in my life :)

Been to Dragon-I in Bandar Utama for few times but this is the first time I write a review about their food because I have been craving for the soup dumpling for MONTHS!! Because of the "Recycle is a Need and a Deed" recycling campaign and my organizational communication thesis, I just don't have the time to satisfy my palate and my desire on the wonderful authentic Chinese food there.

This review serves to satisfy my current desire :( By looking at these pictures, I could somehow "taste" my favourite - soup dumpling.

Soup dumplinrg ... One of the most sellable items in the menu. RM 9 for a basket of four dumplings. Dip some vinegar and ginger before popping it into your mouth and let the warm chicken broth to linger with your tongue... Mmmmm (Eat the dumpling while it is still hot, they taste much better!!)

SzeChuan style Sour Ramen ... very nice presentation. Thick sour gravy with soft tauhu slices, pickles and prawns. Very strong taste of vinegar. I love noodles and find their ramen kinda interesting, though really have to pull and chew a lot!!

Ramen with stir fried chicken dices and fresh cucumber ... so-so, not quite the way I thought it is supposed to be. Esquire Kitchen has the same style of noodles which tastes much better...

Dessert ... Mango with pamelo on shaved ice. One of the best dessert that I have ever tasted :)

Basically Dragon-I serves a lot of authentic Chinese dishes, one of the best that I have tasted is the hot and spicy fried chicken (RM 18 if not mistaken, apologize as photo is not available), goes perfectly well with rounds and rounds of beers!

If you like food and reading some histories, Chinese food will be one of the best topic to be discussed. In China, almost each province will have certain "interesting" and attempting food. I think Chinese food will be one of the best metaphor in descrbing women - unique like Shanghainese food, normal but most satisfying like Hangzhou food or as hot and sexy like Chongching spicy steamboat... who knows... there is always a linkage between great food and sexuality... ha... not agree with that? Well at least I think so :)

Being Tagged!!

Huh...while MSN Messenger is driving me mad for not allowing me to sign in, I went to take a look at my blog instead and surprisingly found that I was being tagged by Clarine in playing this game. Sorta interesting, so here I am to introduce the TOP 10 sexiest men (mainly celebrities). Check them out!!

1* Freddie Ljungberg - Talented Swedish football player (Not sure if he's still playing in the Arsenal). He has a series of Calvin Klein underwear advertisements which make me...arrrggghhh, feel like... hehe... seeeeeeeeexxxxxxxyyyyyy man!! In this list, he is the only one who is not really of the celebrities / actors categories, but since he appeared in CK advertisement, I'll count him in as model!! (cos I really love him!!)

2* Maksim Mrvica (pronounce as Mara-vitsa) - Croatian piano player. Look at the way he plays piano and you'll fall in love with him immediately. How I wish he is still single but too bad, he is a good man, got married few years back and has a daughter, LeeLoo at the moment :(

3* Urs Bühler - Tenor in Il Divo. He is a Swiss and has a talented voice. Go check out their beautful songs such as Heroe, Isabel, Por Que Tu Mi'mes Encore, I believe in You... (Like Maksim, he is a good man as well, got married...sigh)

4* Daniel Craig - The brand new James Bond. He has a lil' "bad guy" and cunning look. Well I guess to be Bond he has to know how to deceive and looks cunning so that the enemies do not know you too well...

5* Simon Webbe - One out of the four singers in pop group - Blue. He captures my attention the most as he has a sexy body and sexy voice if compared to others in the group...

6* Wentworth Miller - My.. My... look at his eyes! I think girls would love to spend some days in the prison just to meet him!!

7* Christian Bale - Appeared as Batman in The Dark Knight. Hmmm, didn't he look wonderful driving his batpod in his Batman suit? Well, I'd be thrilled if he can take me for a ride with his Lamborghini..

8* Orlando Bloom - Yeah, he is always being voted as the "sexiest man" by media and magazines... he deserves those titles!!

9* Judd Law - Hurrrr.... another sexy man that looks even greater even though reaches the stage of "middle-aged man"... I like how he presents himself in Dunhill advertisement and he is indeed the best spokesperson for that brand!

10* Chad Michael Murray - Fall in love with him while watching TV series - One Tree Hill. Got to know that he married Sophia Bush (Brooke in the series) but got divorced later. Didn't really get to know what he is up to recently. Back to Tommy Hilfiger for modelling? Who knows..haha..
Hmmm, I have yet to know who should I tag so I will leave this part blank :)

Women. Cosmetics. Lingerie.

Ok, congratulations to myself, because I am DAMN (x 1, 000, 000) broke now. Why? Because… it’s my fault, I know, I splurge on things I shouldn’t….

God, I found that my cosmetics – foundation, and MASCARA are finished when I need make up the most! Ok, I made my mind up and set a budget of RM 100 for getting myself a good foundation.

Went to Isetan to survey but I was stunned by all the prices that were actually MUCH over my budget. I would say, the ESTĒE LAUDER makeup artist, Peggy was TOO kind and good to me. She offered me a trial session, in order to get the perfect shade that suits my skin tone the most. Of course I accepted the offer. And after some consultation, she even gave me some samples to try, even though I haven’t make any purchase ;P

So, went to others counter, such as Lancôme and Laura Mercier, but they kinda didn’t really bother me (or didn’t offer good service as what I have got from EL). At the end, I went back to the EL counter.

Huh… splurge! OVer INDULGE! Or SPOILED BRAT! Call me whatever you want but I was thrilled because I get what I really wanted, but looking at the bill, my heart (as well as my wallet) is bleeding, kept bleeding…
(Bleeding Love for EL)

The ESTĒE LAUDER 2-way foundation and the casing... This foundation gives good coverage for my bad complexion :P

FREEBIES... The eye cream, the gel mask, those individual-packed lotion and something called "Idealist Pore Minimizer Serum"... I am a freebies sucker..hehe..

OK... These are what I've got from ESTĒE LAUDER... the foundation, the hydrating lotion(blue bottle, left) and all the freebies...
And I remember, someone once said that makeup is a must, is like wearing clothes. Clothes cover your body and makeup covers your skin. Well, it is not where you’ll have to apply a 3-inch thick foundation with purple-and-red eye shadow and eyeliner like Amy Winehouse (Sorry Amy, but your eyeliners are freaking me out!!) but rather makeup that gives you a clean and great complexion.

For me, makeup is not like wearing clothes but rather, I’d say, lingerie. Lingerie? YES! SI! JA!

Why? For me, wearing clothes is sorta too common in explaining the reasons women have a close and tangled relationship with cosmetics. Lingerie explains better…
There are so many types and “functions” for lingerie nowadays – you can go for something casual, sexy and seductive, pink, black, white, halter-neck, strapless or even “invisible”…

Pay a visit to shops such as La Senza, Women’s Secret, Xixili or whichever lingerie shops you prefer, you’ll be surprised where there’s much a woman needs to know in order to get the perfect lingerie for herself. There is much to be learned in picking the right lingerie, for the right occasion and for the right people… It’s just like choosing the perfect shade for foundation, or getting the most natural blusher… you got them wrong, you look terrible (even worse than Amy Winehouse…)!!

Wearing makeup boosts a woman’s confidence, so does wearing good and prefect lingerie (and that’s why we have pushups or maximizer now... haha, so that you look good in whatever you wear). Sometimes, women do not wish to be seen as wearing makeup, so they’ll opt for a nude and natural makeup – nothing too fancy, just to give herself a better and healthier complexion. This is where the T-shirt bra gives the best comfort…

However, in certain circumstances, makeup is being used to stand out herself – smoky eyes with fake eyelashes (preferably those fine ones from Shu Uemura). This is where the sexy lacy pushups or even “invisible” lingerie come in to boost your confidence and make you feel good even though when you’re half naked. Lingerie, of course a good one, is always a sexy killing tool in bedroom… I remember one of my favorite Hong Kong-based writers once said: “It will be a sad thing if the woman is standing in front of her man in her killing and seductive lingerie, but he has never get his eyes off the TV…” (Yeah… kinda sad and insulting where the TV shows can capture his attention more than you do, babes...)

I am not that into lingerie, comparing to makeup and perfumes. Rather, I kinda understand the effects of nice sexy lingerie, in enhancing your confidence, and of course the excitement and pleasure (ok, I am going a lil’ bit too far…). I have yet to splurge on them but I know many of them who do. Maybe in the future I will but currently I like Bikini still (even though I can only wear them during my vacation / at the beach…)

When can I have beautiful skin like Carolyn Murphy?? She's gorgeous and elegant isn't it?

Oh.... at the same time, present my new friend from Parfum, haha.. Incanto Heaven from my favourite brand - Salvatore Ferragamo! And the limited edition pouch!! haha...

Better in Time

Midnight with great songs from Leona Lewis and Na Ying. Past and history fill my mind at the moment. I think I ain’t supposed to think about all this, but “Better in Time” by Leona reminds me of everything in the past and you as well…

Feel like crying, I don’t know why. Probably I just need someone by my side and listen to my stories…

It’s been the longest winter without you
I didn’t know where to turn to
See somehow I can’t forget you...

When things went wrong, I knew it. Well it was not that long that I think it should be. At that time I think I have no clue on where to turn to but I’ll have to fix it myself. I did. Indeed, I did it successfully. Reason being I can’t forget you is because, you’re the one who taught me a lesson, a great lesson in telling me how man ought to behave.

Thought I couldn’t live without you
It’s gonna hurt when it heals to...
I never thought I couldn’t live without you. In fact, I do not live for anyone but myself. I was just, sad. Now the wound has healed. Do I feel anymore pain? No I don’t but I feel grateful because I learned a lot from you. People learn from lessons, don’t they?

It wasn’t all that easy to just put aside your feeling...
This is true, because in fact, I am a very sentimental person. I laugh, cry and shout all the time.

And live my life how it should be
No matter how hard it is I’ll be fine without you (Yes I will…)...
Yeah… I live my life on ways it should be, though it is miserable because of endless assignments sometimes, but I’m happy with my current life. My current life without you because I have everything I need now… I have everything I want.

Where are you now? Silly question I know. I have no idea where you are and how far we are away from each other but I can tell you that, you are pretty far away from my heart.
It’s all over, in fact, it has been over for such a long time….

For me, you are merely a good tutor. You are the past that should be forgotten. Memories of you will fade away… The day will come, very soon… Everything gets better in time.

Perfect vacation!

Probably this has been one of the best vacations that I have ever had. Beautiful beaches (well, but not as impressive as the east coast), sunny weather all day long, plenty of activities to fill your day with, and most important – cheap stuffs!

Having my breakfast at Mcdonald LCCT before boarding ... Ok, don't remind me of my big eye bags and panda eyes ... I haven't got enough of sleep as I need to get up at 5 am in order to get to the airport by 8 am...

The Air Asia Airbus that brought me to Langkawi ... looks huge from the outside... but damn cramp inside...

The first night in Langkawi ... it was also Queen Regina's 21st birthday!! (Upper left) Bao, ah-so neighbour Corrine, me, (lower left) Pei Ru, Lai Yee, Birthday girl Regina and Ah P. I think this picture will show what we have for dinner that night as well...haha...

As a duty free paradise, liquor, tobacco and chocolates are much much much cheaper than those in KL, I’d say, about 5 times cheaper for hard liquor. Here in Langkawi, a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin costs only RM 45 while in KL, if I were to order a bottle of the same; it costs about RM 280 (or more or less). I was kinda thrilled when I see all the cheap liquors because I’m an alcoholic! A can of Heineken beer costs only RM 2.70, about the same price as soft drinks =.= haha… and I bought a bottle of Absolut Kurrant Vodka at only RM 32 (or RM 35, can’t remember) and a bottle of Lindman’s Chardonnay white wine… and of course, plentiful of chocolates – mostly those hardly can be found in KL – Jack Daniel’s, Cognac and Kirsh coated chocolates, and I managed to find Cadburry Rum n’ Raisin!

Chocolates and chocolates and chocolates ... haven't I told you that I'm also a chocolate maniac apart from being an alcoholic?!?

Went to many many places of interest and tried some stuffs that I have never done before – such as jet skiing and spa!! If you ask me where are the most recommended places not to be missed, I’ll say the Langkawi Cable car, Kuah Town for sure (cos’ you would not want to miss the chance of grabbing all the cheap chocolates!), the Seven Wells Waterfall if you like hiking and have the energy to do so and of course, the 4-hour island hopping at Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Singa and Pulau Beras Basah… Erm, I am not really into the Underwater World, cos’ nothing much to see and it is not worth of that amount of money…

Island hopping tour at Pulau Dayang Bunting - The Lake of the Pregnant Maiden ... marvellous isn't it?

Girls posing in front of the map /directory of The Lake of the Pregnant Maiden...

Little angel on her father's shoulder while we were walking around the lake ... how cute and beautiful is she ... I hope I have her emerald eyes...

Me, sunbathing at the Pulau Beras Basah ... this picture shows me how tanned I am...

Breathtaking view taken from the Langkawi Cable Car ... very nice! Able to see the whole sea from the cable car!

The Seven Wells Waterfall ... picture taken from the cable car as well...

Me ... again, posing in the cable car, hehe...

Again ... posing ;P At 652.5 above the sea level, what I saw was a long stretch of sea in shades of green and blue, inseperable with the blue skies...

Me and Ken... picture taken in Oriental Village :P

They call it Black Sand Beach - due to the sand in black instead of the normal milky white... but what I saw was a heavy polluted beach, which makes me think that the sand is black because it has been polluted ... how sad!

Another picture of the polluted Black Sand Beach ... I don't even dare to walk on the beach . I think it is no longer an attractive tourism spot. Don't waste your time to travel all the way long to there...

Jellyfishes ... they are REAL! 100% REAL though they might seem like what we see in TV or animation. I took the picture at the Underwater World and I'm proud of myself for being such a good photographer...ha...

I think I’ll use one word to describe Langkawi – comprehensive. There are so many things to be done – you can try all the water sports such as parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat, kayak, snorkeling and diving, pamper yourself with a spa session, go shopping at the town, have a great feast of seafood (or whatever cuisine you prefer) and end your night with a cocktail at the pub! For me, it is not merely an island where all you could do are sunbathing, snorkeling and listening to the sound of waves… after all, it seems to be perfect for me… who like beaches and shopping at the same time!

Waiting for my therapist at Alun - Alun spa and replying SMS at the same time. I had a cooling sorta cucumber body scrub... (someone peek me again ha!)

Picture taken in car ... on the way to Kuah Town (or maybe somewhere else, can't really remember) . Very nice view - I think driving along the beautiful coastline will never turn the driver mad even though the traffic is bad!

Casa Del Mar… Mi Amor

Wow… it’s been a month since my last post…. Weeks of hectic goddamn final exams and 2 weeks of vacation… here I am! Went to Langkawi on September 22, spent 4 wonderful days there… now back to KL, minds are still wandering to the wonderful sun, beach and most importantly, my home by the sea – Casa Del Mar.

Spending almost 3 hours in the boring and crowded LCCT, I reached Langkawi International Airport at 11.05 am, after a 45-minute flight in a cramp airbus (OK, can’t blame it, after all, I took AirAsia – the LEADING low cost carrier!). Langkawi International Airport is much better than LCCT; I meant it… much much much better!

At the airport, rented a not-so-expensive but not-so-ok car and easily found the hotel after a 10-minute drive. Well, frankly, I love the name of this unique boutique hotel, but the moment when I first enter the hotel façade was- a bit ... erm, disappointing I’d say (After that I realized that it was due to their renovation project…).

The disappointment was soon being swept under the hotel’s carpet when I was being addressed in a welcoming and warm way by the attentive staff. While examining the unconventional lobby (which does not look like a lobby at all), a nice staff served me a weird-but-nice welcome drink – sort of sparkling ginger lemonade. After some nice little talk, I got my room.

Casa Del Mar lobby ... this is the first time I see a lobby with a full shelves of book in different languages... The door leads to the swimming pool and rooms.

Welcome drink ... the sparkling ginger lemonade. Kinda weird but it quenches my thirst immediately...

Very nice room with lots of little touches that surprise me – LCD plasma TV, with cocktail making facilities at a side, fuchsia orchids lie on my bed and in the spacious bathroom. There will be turndown services every evening – what really wowed me were the different scented bookmarks placed on my bed every evening. When I get into the room, it smells like someone has been taking a nice shower, lying on bed, waiting for me… Haha…

The comfortable bed with 4 huge pillows and 5 little cushions... bed i'll rather die on...

The cocktail making facilities at the mini bar...

The very unique set of toiletries in ceramics... (from left) liquid moisturiser, cinnamon soap bar and the hand soap... (they can be purchased at RM 110 per set)

One of the most thoughtful facilities ... At first I thought this is for the associates to water the plant. Later, I realised that it is meant for guests to wash their sandy feet before stepping into their room... how silly I am..

Lots of facilities for the guests… Plentiful of sundecks, a free-form swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. On my first day, I can’t wait to go for sunbathing. Basking myself in the wonderful view, with warm breeze blowing, listening to the sound of waves – how I wish that I can stay there as long as I want to… how I wish…

Can't wait to go sunbathing on the first day ... reading my favourite book and enjoying the wonderful view at the same time...

Me ... Pretending to "float" at the swimming pool.. ok..I admit, I can't swim!!

The beautiful free form pool at noon time...

I spent 3 nights in Casa Del Mar and every morning, I will have to look into their list of breakfast menu carefully and make the right choice because all the dishes seem so attempting and I really want to try them all. Mostly in western style, such as pancake, French toast, turkey ham with edam and brie cheese, omelets, poached egg and some local dishes such as fried noodles and nasi lemak. I think this is due to the majority of their guests are foreigners, mostly couples, and we are the only local guests in the hotel, in a weird combination that seems a little bit awkward…

My starter for breakfast every morning ... muesli with fruits and croissant... with tea and orange juice.

Breakfast on the second day ... Egg white omelet with mushroom, spinach, edam, brie and goat cheese... really fantastic!!

Breakfast on the third day ... house baked bean on toast with sunnyside up eggs...

Breakfast on the last day ... the most ordinary - fried oat meal with fresh strawberries... and the daily fresh squeezed orange juice.

The private tent for dinner that outlooks the beach ... very very romantic, but i think it costs about what I paid for a 3-night stay...

At first, I was planning to stay at the Starwood properties – either the Sheraton Beach Resort or the Westin Langkawi. However, after a long run of consideration and research, Casa Del Mar became our final choice and it is indeed a wise choice. Crowded will never ever be an issue in this boutique hotel as there are only less than 30 rooms available. So, for those who would like to splurge on an extravagant vacation, or would like to impress your loved one, or, guys, if you would like to pop the question, do it in Casa Del Mar because the hotel is filled with sense of love… the non commercialized sense of comfortable and love… If I ever have a chance or would like to visit Langkawi for a second time, I might choose to stay in other hotel, but I think, this hotel will always be prioritized…

(P/S: Don’t worry, Casa Del Mar does not pay me to do this. I write this article from the perspective of a satisfied guest... ha)
